The Filk Wars have been over now for many's the long day
I tried to get involved with them in every kind of way
The filkers liked my parodies but my ose songs they'd ignore
They never did get parodied--what did I write them for?

I'd done my share of ose songs though I knew they weren't my best
It's true to say my neatest songs have all been sung in jest
So I relied on Sam's Song and the like to see me through
But all the filkers told me was--"Don't call us, we'll call you!"

Well, two or three have tried it, but the rest still keep away,
And filking others' songs is now regarded as passe.
I can't do or be done to, every avenue's a wall,
Will someone tell me what's the point--of writing filk at all?
