FOUND

I stare out at the velvet of the endless evening sky
Spangled with uncounted tiny stars
And in one breathless moment my soul's pinions cease to strive
And at last I see things as they really are
I do belong here
The discords and the foolishness of man
Find echoes in my soul that I've tried so long to ignore
But I can't pretend I'm different any more
I do belong here.

Even with this sudden joy, a pang of wounded pride
of scintillating grand deflated dreams.
I thought I was alone on Earth, exceptional, apart,
But now I know I'm no less than I seem.
I do belong here
With the others who feel the same as me.
How sweet and sad to find home in the last place I would seek
And oh how strange....
that I do belong here.
